Mastering Tone: The Key to Ultra-Realistic Brows with ID Liner Pro Artist @limitlesspmu
Miriam Beganova, also known as @limitlesspmu is an award-winning Artist, Trainer, Judge and Speaker who is known globally for her pioneering Hyperrealism Brow technique. With a background in fine art and years of expertise under her belt, she has truly perfected the art of creating ultra-natural brows.
What are Miriam's signature Hyperrealism Brows?
"My signature Hyperrealism Brows are constructed using a specialist technique that creates the illusion of real hair by shading each individual stroke in graduated light to dark tones rather than just lining in one shade."
What does Miriam use to create her brows?
Of course, it has to be her very own Hyperrealism Brow Pigments that she created in collaboration with industry giants Hanafy Colours Pigments. The collection includes four smooth, elegant shades that range from light to dark to allow the Artist to create different tones, which in turn helps to achieve super natural and realistic results.
They allow for the required layering and depth needed to create Hyperrealism Brows and have been formulated specifically to build tones and texture for all Fitzpatrick skin types.
The Colour Palette:
Chelsea No.1 - A beautiful champagne colour used for light Fitzpatrick 1-2 skin tones. It is a super subtle shade for that can be used for soft shading.
Belgravia No.2 - A stunning, warm-based pecan shade that heals light and natural. It is suitable for Fitzpatrick 2-3 and very cool skin tones. Belgravia can also be used as a lighter tone when creating shaded eyeliners.
Knightsbridge No.3 - An exquisite warm-based truffle colour. Use for Fitzpatrick 3-4 skin tones. Miriam's top-tip: "Dilute if necessary with 2-3 drops of Hanafy Thinner and modify with Corrector No.1 from the Hanafy original collection."
Mayfair No.4 - A rich, dark brown-black Caviar colour. Use for Fitzpatrick 5-6 skin tones or for creating darker shadows throughout the brows. Modify with Corrector No.1 if needed.
Mastering Tone:
As an Artist you won't only be working with different hairstroke patterns and arches, but also with light and shadow effects. Mastering tonal value is key to achieving ultra-realistic brows, and the right placement of light, medium and dark tones will help to mimic how brows are naturally formed, and the way that light hits them.
The image below is a great example of where natural light hits the face and consequently where shadows are formed, which then dictates where you should be creating lighter, medium, and darker tones.
The front of the brow should always appear lighter, moving in to darker and medium tones towards the centre of the brow where shadows naturally form. The tail of the brow should also finish with lighter tones.
In the image below, @limitlesspmu shows her placement of light, medium and dark shades that create shadows and depth for that ultra-realistic effect!
Miriam's Tonal Placement:
For the lighter tones, Miriam opted to work with Chelsea No.1.
Chelsea is perfect for using in areas where the brows would naturally appear lighter and where light hits the brows. Focus on placing the lighter pigment tones at the front and tail end of the brows.
For the medium tones, Miriam used Belgravia No.2.
This warm-based pecan shade is a perfect transition shade for blending the front of the brows in towards the centre of the brow bone, and for creating depth where more strokes are placed.
For the darker tones, Miriam used a mix of Belgravia No.2 + Knightsbridge No.3.
This darker shade creates a shadow effect throughout the centre and the tail of the brows, adding depth and dimension.
Miriam's top-tip for creating natural Hyperrealism Brows:
"The main mistake that people make when creating Hyperrealism Brows is overworking them on the first session, you can always add but you can't take away - start slow and add more dimension to the brows at the retouch!"
